Home / How it works

What the software does, and what it never does.

PharmacyIQ is software, not a pharmacy and not a marketplace. We do not buy, sell, price, own or ship medication at any point — licensed pharmacies do that. Here is exactly what happens from creating your account to your first prescription being filled, step by step.

  1. 01About five minutes, one page

    Apply for access

Tell us about your practice, add your license, NPI and DEA, and e-sign the software agreement. One page, no back-and-forth.

  2. 02Usually one business day

    We verify your credentials

We verify licensure, credentials, prescribing eligibility and practice details against what you submitted, usually within one business day, then your account opens for the states you are licensed in.

  3. 03A real person, not a cart

Your account manager sets you up

Once you are approved, a dedicated account manager walks you through the dashboard and configures the software — staff roles, protocols and workflow — the way your practice actually runs.

  4. 04Every prescription, patient-specific

You write it, the software sends it

Write and e-sign a prescription for one named patient, exactly as you do today. The software checks your licensure for that patient’s state and transmits the prescription to an independent, licensed pharmacy that can fill it there. Nothing moves without your signature.

Always patient-specificOne named patient, one prescriber signature. No bulk, no stock, no medication held or sold by PharmacyIQ.
The pharmacist still decidesThe dispensing pharmacist reviews your prescription exactly as they would one that arrived by fax, and can decline it.
  5. 05Tracked dispatch, all 50 states

    The pharmacy dispenses and ships

Every fill is prepared by an independent, licensed pharmacy, packed in insulated temperature-monitored packaging and dispatched with tracking. PharmacyIQ never handles, stores, ships, owns or prices the medication — it records and displays each step.

  6. 06Ongoing

    Refills and growth

Refills, new protocols and added providers are configured in your dashboard. As your patient volume grows, the software keeps pace.

Where the lines are, plainly.

The fine print every practice should read before it signs anything, ours included.

  1. 1

Every preparation dispenses only against a valid, patient-specific prescription from a licensed provider.

  2. 2

Compounded medications are prepared by state-licensed 503A pharmacies and 503B outsourcing facilities and are not FDA-approved drugs.

  3. 3

All prescribing decisions rest solely with the treating provider. Availability varies by state and is confirmed at onboarding.

  4. 4

For licensed healthcare providers only. Nothing on this site is medical advice or an offer to supply medication, with or without a prescription.

  5. 5

PharmacyIQ is a software company. It does not compound, dispense, purchase, resell, ship or take title to medication, and takes no markup on it. Pharmacies set their own prices; PharmacyIQ charges for its software.
